EDPUZZLE for Family Day

I felt inspired by Trinidad Alcaide´s edpuzzle work in her blog Knowledge is power blog: https://edpuzzle.com/media/606a11daa5ce21428f4f8358ç So ,thinking about creating an activity using this tool, I decided to edit a video about The different Types of families because we will be celebrating the Day of The Family next week at school and I would like to bridge the vocabulary and concepts between the Spanish and English Languages.

Mini Project with Genially

Healthy Lunch Project: Motivating students to practice Speaking using Genially Presentations to edit their Performances. The idea of using genially to edit students´classroom speaking presentations arose because many of the students were reluctant or were scared of presenting in front of their peers.I planned to prepare different stages where they could practice their speaking and then, together, since we only have 23 tablets for the whole school to share, we could edit a presentation with their performances and show it in google classroom, so they could self- evaluate their work . STAGE 1: The topic chosen was the one on which we were working on at school, it is about a healthy diet and the use of there is and there are to talk about healthy meals during the day. STAGE 2: Students were given a draft where they could choose the ingredients for elaborating a healthy lunch, vocabulary has already been introduced at the beginning of the lesson. STAGE 3: Students were given a “ friendly” rubric, so they could interact while their peers were presenting. STAGE 4: Students watched a video ( included in the text book) where a student models the presentation, attention is focused in the way he looks to the audience while he speaks, intonation and gestures. STAGE 5: Students carried out the oral presentations individually because of covid restrictions, and audios were recorded. They used a paper plate as realia where they drew the healthy food for their lunch, and at the back of the plate they glued a guide where they could check to help them with the sentences in the presentation. STAGE 6: Students and teacher chose the presentation format to edit the audios and pictures taken during the presentation. In a choral way and with the help of the smart board, the presentation was created. Decisions were taken as a group, although students could choose whether their audios and pics were going to be included in the presentation or not. The use of genially, although it was a whole group way ,has motivated the students strongly. They were able to reflect and self evaluate their performance using the rubric and without being the focus of attention. Next time I would like to have the opportunity of using tablets or chromebooks for each student so they could edit and create their own presentations. Unfortunately there are few digital resources available for primary school students and the covid restrictions don't allow us to group students to carry out projects of this kind. It took four sessions to organize, create the plate with the drawing, the guide with the sentences they were going to present, the rubric, the presentation, the recording and finally the edition of the presentation. Story Jumper

Book titled 'Vélez Veloz : THE BEST RIDER AND CLIMBER FROM IZNALLOZ.'Read this book made on StoryJumper
Due to covid 19, this year students are not allowed to work in groups, so we did the task in a choral way, using the interactive smart board and choosing among all, the scripts and pictures for the story. Our starting point was a global project that we are doing at school to celebrate the Book Day and to remember and celebrate the life a local climber who collaborated with the school and passed away a few years ago in a Mountain expedition. Creativity was encouraged since students had to choose the scripts, and they had to create a story from a real character and his biography. First we made a biography in Timetoast, and now as a whole group we transformed that biography in a book. I think students were deeply motivated because they knew the main character of the book and it is part o a learning project that they are working in all the different subjects. Next time I will choose a theme less informative and maybe more fictional, so they can use their imagination too. The finished project was published in google classroom so the families could enjoy it too. Students collaborated to improve the book, first we made a draft, and then as a group we thought about things that could be improved in the story. We used a rubric, and it guided us to know which things should be included in the book.
